The following is a list of classes. Please read through the following in order to know where to sign your child up. Classes are designed by skill level first, the age is simply a guide line. If you are unsure which group to place your child into, please choose the lower group. It is much easier to move a child up once the class has begun. All classes are 30 minutes in length.

Water Aerobics Class - This class is designed for adults looking for a low impact Water resistance training class. Combining plyos, aerobics, strength training and fun! Starter class designed for any level...so please come check it out! Mon/Wed/Fri, 9:00-10:00 am, Sep. 8 - Jun. 18, 2011. (Follows same closing dates as Open Swim, listed below) Purchase a non-refundable punch card for $100, use anytime, expires 3 months from purchase, non-transferable, and kept on site for your convenience. (Drop in rate of $15/class.)
Adult Beginner - This class will be designed to make adults more comfortable in the water. It will focus on basic water safety, beginner swimming skills, such as getting comfortable with face in the water. Swimmers will be encouraged to learn how to float, and begin forward and back movement without flotation device or assistance. Swimmers will be guided at their own pace. (30 minutes)
Adult Advanced Beginner - This class will be designed for swimmers who are more comfortable in the water, and are looking for some stroke refining, and technique help. (30 minutes)
Parent and Tot: (8 to 36 months) This class provides the opportunity for you to get your toddler oriented to the water. The parent gets in the water with the child, and an instructor will be present to assist you in ways to make this first water experience a pleasant one for both parent & child. The more you get a toddler oriented to the water, the less fear they will have once they start formal swim lessons. This class will not teach your toddler how to swim. It is simply a relaxed, fun atmosphere for you and your child to get some water time. (30 minutes)
Splish Splash: (age 3 only) A special class designed for 3 year old beginners. Water orientation and introduction to water instruction. Basic water skills will be addressed, but not forced on the child if they are not ready. Main goal is to teach the child that swimming is FUN. Children will progress based on ability to be comfortable without parental assistance. (30 minutes)
Beginner
1: (~4-6 yrs) Children with little or no experience
swimming. Children may be apprehensive and rely heavily on the instructor.
They will
learn to be comfortable with putting their faces in the water. Reaching
and kicking skills will be introduced to aid in the beginning stages
of proper body position in the water. Safety skills will also be taught.

Beginner 2: (~4-6 yrs) Children should be comfortable putting their faces in the water without fear or hesitation. Proper body position in the water will be taught through the use of kick boards, front and back glides as well as floating on their front and back. Rotary breathing with arms out of the water will also be taught. Safety skills will be taught. (30 minutes)
Advanced Beginner 1: (~5-8 yrs) Swimmers should be very comfortable on their front and back with minimal assistance from the instructor. Front and back push offs and glides will be strengthen. Children should also be attempting over arm strokes such as freestyle with rotary breathing and backstroke with assistance. Building endurance through the use of kick boards and proper skill technique will continue to be taught. (30 minutes)
Advanced Beginner 2: (~5-8 yrs) Swimmers should be confident floating on their front and back without assistance from the instructor. They should be able to glide and kick with their faces in the water for approx. 10-15 feet without aide. The continued proper use of kick boards will be used to aid in their endurance. Progress will be made in freestyle with rotary breathing and backstroke so they are confident and independent with those skills. (30 minutes)
Advanced 1: (~5-9 yrs) Is a confident swimmer and will be comfortable swimming 25 yards with the instructor out of the water. Can float on front and back unassisted. Successful in treading water for 20 -30 seconds. Class will strengthen the proper side-breathing while mastering the kick, arm strokes and body position. Main focus will be demonstrating proper freestyle and backstroke skills. Class will also begin to teach basic diving skills. (30 minutes)
Advanced 2: (~6-10 yrs) Comfortable swimming 25 yards freestyle and backstroke with strong technique including rotary breathing. Successful treading water for 60 seconds. Proper diving skills will continue to be taught with the main focus on the breaststroke and butterfly strokes. (30 minutes)
Stroke Clinic: (~6-12 yrs) This group is designed to reinforce all four strokes previously learned and to build endurance by doing many laps of the pool. Instructors will correct technique and form. Race diving and flip turns will be introduced. It is strongly recommended that children at this level attend a minimum of 2 classes per week to build endurance. (45 minutes)
Advanced
Stroke Clinic: (~11-15 yrs) This class meets
twice per week for 1 hour each day. This class is for those that have advanced
out of our Stroke Clinic class, or have the equivilant knowlege of all four
competitive strokes, and some basic endurance training ability. The class
will focus on technique correction, and also introduce stronger endurance
training, to improve overall swimming ability. Some basic set work, including
interval training and drills to improve strokes, will also be taught. This
is an ideal course for those preparing for a crossover to swim team; summer
league, high school, or club swimming. The course will involve many laps,
and technique/endurance training in all competitive strokes, as well as
starts and turns. (60
